Modesto Police asking for public’s help after hit-and-run victim dies

A 64-year-old Modesto man is dead and police are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver of the vehicle that killed him.

Buster Herring died 10 days after he was struck by a light-colored Ford truck in the area of Paradise Road near Tuolumne Boulevard at about 4:15 a.m. on Nov. 3, according to Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves.

The truck, which had a utility box bed, was traveling east on Paradise Road in the right lane when it struck Herring. The man suffered a head injury, internal injuries and broken bones.

The driver, meanwhile, left the scene.

A citizen reported the accident, and police were on scene shortly after.

Police are asking anyone in the area of the accident in the early morning hours of Nov. 3, to call Officer Jeff Hopkins at 209-652-3165.
