Stanislaus County DA’s Office receives grant to prosecute DUI cases
The state’s Office of Traffic Safety has awarded a $346,000 grant to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office to prosecute those suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The grant will fund a prosecution team that will work DUI cases from arraignment through sentencing, especially those alleged repeat DUI offenders.
“Drug and alcohol impaired driving presents a serious threat to public safety,” District Attorney Birgit Fladager said in a news release. “We are grateful for this additional funding which allows us to dedicate highly trained prosecutors to this caseload.”
In fatal and major injury DUI-related crashes, members of the prosecution team may respond to the crash scene to assist in the investigation. The team also will share information with law enforcement officials and other prosecutors, including training on drug-impaired driving.
