Modesto man badly cut in altercation

A Modesto man suffered a serious laceration during an altercation on the 900 block of Helen Avenue on Monday morning.

The victim and the man who cut him know each other and had a previous altercation, said Modesto police Lt. Kelly Scott.

Details on the incident were few Monday morning. Scott did not have an ID on the suspect, who was in custody, and said the type of weapon was undetermined. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was in stable condition, Scott said.

The incident occurred about 7:15 a.m. Helen is just northeast of Sunrise and Lucern avenues.
