Two arrested in west Modesto homicide

Two more people were arrested over the weekend on suspicion of killing a man in west Modesto earlier this month.

Maira Vasquez and Jacob Silva, both 18-year-old Hayward residents, were arrested on suspicion of murder and conspiracy in connection with the shooting death of Joseph Carl Levi Wise on Nov. 4, according to Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputy Anthony Bejaran.

Several days after the shooting in the 600 block of Marshall Avenue, detectives arrested 44-year-old Modesto resident Anthony Centeno on suspicion of murder and robbery. An arraignment last week was rescheduled to the end of November to give Centeno time to hire an attorney.

Warrants were issued for Vasquez and Silva, as well as a 17-year old.

The two 18-year-olds were arrested Friday afternoon by Hayward police officers at a home in the city, Bejaran said.

The 17-year-old, whose name was not released, is still wanted.

Silva and Vasquez are being held without bail at the Stanislaus County Jail. Their arraignment has not yet been scheduled.
