The patrols are made up of officers assigned to look solely for drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs in areas with a high frequency of DUI crashes or arrests, according to Modesto police.
On Saturday night, officers will conduct a sobriety checkpoint at an undisclosed location in Modesto.
The DUI enforcement is funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety.
