Modesto school locked down after report of man with gun
Modesto police officers surrounded Roosevelt Junior High School on Friday afternoon after receiving an anonymous report of a man with a gun on campus.
The caller reported seeing the man walking quickly into the school on College Avenue, said Officer Martin Lemus.
Police arrived within seconds, Lemus said, and more officers were called to the scene.
The school was placed on lockdown about 12:30 p.m. and officers spent about 45 minutes searching each classroom, the gym and other rooms.
No man with a gun was located and officers are investigating the legitimacy of the call, Lemus said.
