Four killed in crash after pursuit in Lathrop
A suspected DUI driver led authorities on a chase that ended when the car rolled over, killing four people.
According to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department, the incident started at 11:30 p.m. Sunday near the 100 block of East Roth Road. Deputies initiated a pursuit after trying to stop a black Chevrolet Blazer.
The driver failed to stop, instead driving east on Roth and then north on McKinley Avenue in French Camp at speeds from 70 to 100 mph. The driver lost control of the car, causing it to roll over several times.
The driver was ejected; three passengers were trapped inside. The driver and one male and one female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. A second female was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Investigation into the incident continues. Authorities did not release the names of those involved, pending positive identification and notification of their families.
