Police looking for Turlock bank robber
Police were looking for a man who robbed a bank Saturday morning near California State University, Stanislaus, and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The robbery occurred about 9:25 a.m. at the Delta National Bank at 3700 Geer Road, a few blocks south of Christoffersen Parkway. Turlock police officers responding to the reported robbery found two bank employees, who had locked themselves in the vault after the robbery.
One employee told officers that he was standing outside when he was approached by a masked man, who told the employee he intended to rob the bank and had a gun.
The robber ordered the employee to open the door and let him in the bank. The robber then demanded that the employees open the vault. The employees complied.
Police said the robber grabbed the cash from the vault and left. The employees then locked the vault door and called 911 from inside. The bank employees were not injured during the robbery.
Investigators collected evidence at the scene but did not disclose what was found.
Police described the robber as a man standing about 6 feet tall, weighing about 250 pounds, and wearing a ski-mask, sunglasses, gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white sneakers.
