Boy, 15, arrested for threats against students at Turlock’s Pitman High School

A 15-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of making threats to harm students at Pitman High School.

On Tuesday, an anonymous call was made to Pitman High staff during which the caller made threats to harm students, according to the Turlock Police Department.

Minutes later, the same person called the Turlock Police Department and made threats against the school.

Pitman High school staff, the on-site Turlock police school resource officer and additional Turlock police officers searched the school grounds and surrounding areas to ensure the safety of students and staff.

On Wednesday, investigators traced the origin of the call to a Turlock residence and subsequently arrested a 15-year-old boy. He was booked at Stanislaus County juvenile hall on various charges related to the threats.

Investigators believe that the threats were meant to be a hoax, with the caller lacking the intent or resources to carry out an attack at the school, according to Turlock police.

The investigation will continue to determine if any other locations were threatened and if any other people were involved.

Anyone with any information about this incident is urged to contact Detective James Brewer at 209-664-7331. Callers can also leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636 and may be eligible for a reward.
