Three arrested at chop shop in Turlock

The theft of a Kawasaki ATV led to two more stolen vehicles and a large amount of marijuana in Turlock on Thursday.

A California Highway Patrol officer spotted the ATV, reported stolen in Modesto on Oct.14, at a home on East Harding Road.

The Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force conducted surveillance at the home where officers saw the stolen ATV being driven on the property. They determined that two of the men living at the home were on probation.

On Thursday, StanCATT officers and Stanislaus County Probation officers conducted a probation search at the home, where they found the stolen Kawasaki ATV and a Honda quad that was taken at the same time, as well as a Pontiac Grand Prix that had been reported stolen out of Merced County.

Partner Hooten, 40, was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and owning or operating a chop shop.

Officers determined that the engine from the Grand Prix had been put into Hooten’s mother’s car.

Officers also found about 100 pounds of marijuana, five portable concentrated cannabis labs and a sawed-off shotgun.

Keith Bradley, 18, was arrested on suspicion of manufacturing concentrated cannabis and possession of marijuana for sale. Gary Olson, 37, was arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale.
