ATM torn, stolen from bar in Tuolumne

An ATM was ripped from its mounting and stolen from a Tuolumne bar over the weekend, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Saturday morning about 5:55, deputies were sent to the Logger’s Club Bar in the 18000 block of Bay Avenue on a burglary report. They found the security gate on the front door ripped from its frame and the front doors forced open.

The ATM was missing. Apparently, the thieves used a cable or chain to tear it out.

A witness told deputies that a light colored truck similar to a Ford Ranger or Chevy S10 sped away from the area with a large object in its bed. A search of the area failed to turn up the vehicle.

The ATM was found by a resident Sunday off the roadway near Eden and Knox roads in Tuolumne. It will be processed for fingerprints and other possible evidence, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

No monetary estimate of the loss from the Logger’s Club was available Monday morning, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Joe Johnson.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office at 209-533-5815.
