Man arrested for stabbing of brother in west Modesto
A man was hospitalized and his brother detained in a stabbing in west Modesto Thursday afternoon.
Modesto police responded to the 300 block of Locust Street at about 12:30 p.m. after one of the brothers was stabbed multiple times in the stomach, said department spokeswoman Heather Graves.
He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers detained the man’s brother who had a minor stab wound to his arm likely caused by the knife he was holding.
Graves said the suspect, 49-year-old Herbert Smith, was fighting with his brother about the type of people he was bringing into their home.
Smith was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
