Modesto police arrest man in robbery of brother

A homeless man was arrested in Modesto on Thursday afternoon on suspicion of robbing his brother

The victim was driving south in the 800 block of McHenry Avenue when he spotted his brother whom he hadn’t seen for some time because the brother had been living on the street, according to Modesto Police spokeswoman Heather Graves.

The victim pulled over to talk to his brother, Gambino Padilla, 36, at about 1:15 p.m. but after speaking for a few minutes his brother assaulted him.

Graves said the Padilla pushed his brother against a wall, threatened him with a knife and stole his wallet.

Padilla ran from the scene and was located about 20 minutes later at Standiford Park on Tokay Avenue.

Padilla was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
