Woman shot with pellet gun in southeast Modesto

A woman was shot with a pellet gun in southeast Modesto Wednesday morning.

Police were dispatched to a home in the 3100 block of Dry Creek Road at about 8 a.m. for a report of a woman banging on the front door of the home there, said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves.

Officers arrived a few minutes later and found no one in front of the home and no signs of forced entry. When no one at the home answered the door, the officers left, Graves said.

A short time later a woman arrived at a local hospital with a pellet gunshot wound to her abdomen. Her injuries are not life threatening.

Officers learned that the shooting took place at the Dry Creek home and have detained a woman there in connection with the shooting. She is being interviewed but has not yet been arrested.

Graves said the victim used to live at the home with the male resident who still lives there. She did not know the man’s relationship to the woman who was detained.
