Man arrested in robbery of Riverbank donut shop

A man was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of robbing a donut shop in Riverbank.

The suspect entered DC Donuts in the 2700 block of Patterson Road at about 7:10 a.m., said Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Sgt. Anthony Bejaran.

He jumped over the counter with a screwdriver and waved it at the clerk, scratching her shoulder.

The suspect took cash from the register and left the store, Bejaran said.

As deputies were responding to the scene they spotted a man who matched the suspect’s description walking in an alley a few blocks from the donut shop.

The man was found to be in possession of cash and a screwdriver, Bejaran said.

Armando Rocha, 38, of Riverbank, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
