Modesto police assist in second arrest into Ripon shooting

A Modesto man became the second suspect arrested in connection with a shooting near downtown Ripon in June.

With the assistance from the Modesto Police Department, the Ripon Police Department’s Special Investigation Unit took Cody Stephen Lewis, 24, into custody on Saturday.

It follows the Friday arrest of Donovyn Hooper George, 30, of Riverbank.

The two are suspects in a June 9 shooting that left a victim with serious but nonlife-threatening injuries.

Both Lewis and George have been booked into San Joaquin County Jail on multiple felony charges.

Ripon detectives are not releasing any further information about the incident, including what roles Lewis and George had.
