A 27-year-old Modesto man was indicted for being a felon and allegedly possessing firearms after posting photos and videos of guns on Instagram in June, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Court records show law enforcement tracked Samian Sivansay’s vehicle from Arizona to California, before attempting a traffic stop and pursuing him in a brief high-speed chase.

When Sivansay’s vehicle was found abandoned, officers recovered nine firearms inside, many matching those on his Instagram page.

Because of felony convictions, including robbery with a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm, he is prohibited from possessing firearms.

Sivansay faces a maximum statutory penalty of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, if convicted. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicole M. Vanek is prosecuting the case.

This case is part of the nationwide initiative Operation Take Back America. It aims to “repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime,” according to the press release.
