CHP and Stanislaus law enforcement target intoxicated drivers in Friday operation

California Highway Patrol

The California Highway Patrol is partnering with Stanislaus County law enforcement agencies to conduct an operation targeting intoxicated drivers Friday. According to a CHP press release, the Central Valley division investigated 2,442 DUI-related crashes in 2025.

“This targeted enforcement effort is part of the ongoing commitment to reduce the number of DUI-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities,” the press release stated.

The operation is a response to the high number of DUI-related crashes last year, with the goal of “deter[ring] impaired driving and enhanc[ing] roadway safety.”

In partnership with the Modesto Police Department, Ceres Police Department and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, the four agencies will be deploying DUI Saturation Patrol Task Forces throughout the county.

With funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety, the operation’s aim is to proactively remove drivers under the influence, identify contributing factors to DUI-related crashes and increase public awareness of the consequences of driving impaired.
