Woman struck with ax when she intervenes in fight, Stanislaus Sheriff’s Office says

A woman is in stable condition after being attacked with an ax Tuesday night in Modesto, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a call at about 8 p.m. on the 400 block of Spruce Street.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim said she intervened in an argument between a man and woman and was attacked when the woman hit her in the arm with an ax.

The victim was taken to a hospital to receive further medical treatment. She suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was discharged the same night.

The Sheriff’s Office did not provide additional information on the nature or cause of the argument leading up to the assault.

The suspect, 28-year-old Teilanie Sialoi, a Modesto resident, turned herself in and was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
