Modesto police investigating fatal shooting Tuesday night

Police are investigating a fatal shooting committed in central Modesto on Tuesday night.

Officers were dispatched at about 8:40 p.m. to the report of a shooting in the area of Ellison and Lancey drives, just northwest of Briggsmore Avenue and Oakdale Road.

A man was found suffering at least one gunshot wound, and he died from his injuries.

Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit took over the investigation, according to a Facebook post by the Modesto Police Department.

“This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the community at this time,” the post reads.
