Tuolumne deputies arrest Coulterville man in heroin sales investigation
A two-month investigation by Tuolumne County authorities led to the arrest of a Coulterville man accused of transporting heroin for sale in the Groveland area, officials said.
The case began in February, when patrol deputies conducted a proactive traffic stop in Groveland and seized black tar heroin, according to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office. The stop prompted a referral to the Tuolumne Narcotics Team (TNT), which launched a follow-up investigation.
Investigators later identified the suspected supplier as 64-year-old Michael Leslie Proctor, who authorities say was bringing heroin from the Central Valley to sell in the Groveland area. TNT obtained a search warrant for Proctor, his vehicle and his residence.
On April 9, Proctor was stopped in the La Grange area. During the stop, investigators found about 137.5 grams — more than a quarter pound — of heroin and $2,909 in cash, according to the sheriff’s office.
A subsequent search of Proctor’s home uncovered additional narcotics, methamphetamine, ammunition and drug-related items.
Proctor was arrested on multiple felony charges, including transportation and possession of heroin for sale, possession of methamphetamine and being a felon in possession of ammunition. Authorities said Proctor is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing ammunition.
A passenger in the vehicle, 58-year-old Jaymee Troi McFarland, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
