Modesto man arrested in Escalon after alleged threats. Police recover firearms
A Modesto man was arrested Saturday evening in Escalon after making threats at a downtown business and being found with multiple firearms, according to police.
Officers responded at about 7:35 p.m. April 4 to the 1700 block of Main Street for a reported disturbance, Escalon Police Chief Robert Hardgraves said.
The caller reported a man had become verbally aggressive toward staff and made threats, and may have been accessing firearms from a nearby vehicle, police said.
Officers located the man walking away from his vehicle and detained him without incident. During the investigation, the man admitted to having firearms in the vehicle, police said.
Three firearms were seized. All were legally registered, according to police.
The 58-year-old Modesto man — whose name has not been released — was booked into San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of multiple charges, including:
- Carrying a loaded firearm during the commission of a felony
- Criminal threats
- Carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle
- Carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle
- Public intoxication
Police said the man has no prior history with the Escalon Police Department.
No injuries were reported.
