Sonora man arrested after fentanyl, meth seized in Tuolumne County investigation
A 34-year-old Sonora man was arrested March 20 after authorities seized fentanyl, methamphetamine and cash during a narcotics investigation in Tuolumne County, according to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.
The Tuolumne Narcotics Team had been investigating Joseph Eugene Oneal Foletti for alleged fentanyl sales in the county when detectives served a search warrant at his home in the 9300 block of Highway 49 in Sonora. At the same time, a traffic stop involving Foletti was conducted in the Columbia area, officials said.
Foletti was taken into custody without incident.
During the search, investigators located about 14 grams of fentanyl, 7 grams of methamphetamine, $1,000 in cash and drug packaging materials, along with other evidence consistent with narcotics sales, the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities said Foletti admitted to swallowing a small bag of fentanyl during the traffic stop and was transported to a local medical center for treatment.
Foletti is facing multiple felony charges related to the possession, transportation and sale of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The sheriff’s office said fire personnel assisted during the operation, including helping open a safe at the residence.
