Ceres police make 5 DUI arrests during recent enforcement patrols
Five people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence during recent DUI enforcement efforts conducted by the Ceres Police Department, officials said.
According to a department social media post, officers carried out two eight-hour DUI saturation patrols aimed at identifying and removing impaired drivers from local roadways.
During those operations, officers conducted 31 traffic stops that resulted in 25 citations and 11 vehicles being towed. In addition to the five DUI arrests, police reported one felony warrant arrest.
Officers also conducted five standardized field sobriety tests as part of the enforcement efforts.
Police said they took a zero-tolerance approach toward unlicensed or suspended drivers, noting that driving without a valid license poses a risk to public safety.
“Driving under the influence remains one of the leading causes of preventable crashes and injuries,” the department said in its post, encouraging residents to plan ahead by using a designated driver or rideshare service if they intend to drink.
The department said it remains committed to ongoing enforcement and public awareness efforts to keep roadways safe.
