Manteca murderer found to be sane

A jury has found 27-year-old Dawson McGehee sane in the murder of his mother, Manteca resident Kathleen McGehee.

Dawson McGehee, who had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, was convicted of second-degree murder in late November. McGehee stabbed his 54-year-old mother to death Oct. 30, 2011. According to his defense, McGehee suffered from delusions and hallucinations. The same jury that found him guilty of the charges determined Tuesday that he was capable of knowing or understanding the nature and quality of his act. McGehee is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 28.
