Modesto man faces life sentence after child sex abuse conviction

A jury convicted a Modesto man of multiple felony sex crimes involving children following a lengthy trial in Stanislaus County Superior Court.

Jurors on Dec. 29 found Douglas Kent Jensen, 60, guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a child, three counts of oral copulation or sexual penetration of a child 10 years old or younger, and three counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.

The jury also found Jensen committed specified sex offenses against multiple victims — a special finding that significantly increases potential punishment under California law.

Court records show the abuse spanned more than a decade and involved two victims. One victim was 10 years old or younger during some of the offenses, while another was between 11 and 13 years old, meeting the legal threshold for continuous sexual abuse.

The verdicts followed a jury trial overseen by Judge Carrie Stephens. Deputy District Attorney Larissa Jones prosecuted the case.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 6. Jensen faces a potential life sentence.
