Keyes suspect in child sex crimes arrested in parking lot of Turlock high school

In the parking lot of Pitman High School on Tuesday, undercover Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested a Keyes man on suspicion of sex crimes against a minor.

Jaspal Singh, 36, was arrested by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit for lewd acts with a child, according to a news release.

The victim reported the abuse occurred over a prolonged period of time. Tuesday, Singh had arranged to meet with the minor but was “intercepted” by detectives in the parking lot of the Turlock high school, the release says.

Singh admitted to detectives the allegations against him, the release says. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on suspicion of violations including lewd acts with a child under 14 years old, communicating with a minor with the intent to commit a sex crime, and arranging a meeting with a minor for sexual purposes.

The victim is a student at Pitman, a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson told The Bee on Thursday evening. The suspect has no connection to the school. The victim and suspect also are not members of the same family, the spokesperson added.

Singh is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact Detective McKee at 209-525-7114 or submit an anonymous tip to Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers at 866-602-7463.
