Local comedian arrested for alleged threats against Stanislaus County supervisor
Local comedian Anthony Krayenhagen, 38, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of threatening an elected county official, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.
Krayenhagen allegedly said something during a phone call on Nov. 13 that the official perceived as a threat on his or her life, said Detective Royjindar Singh.
During a court arraignment on Friday, the official was identified as Stanislaus County Supervisor Channce Condit.
Condit, who reportedly knows Krayenhagen, then reported the call to the Sheriff’s Office. The agency obtained an arrest warrant for Krayenhagen the next day, Singh said. The Sheriff’s Office’s Special Investigations Unit was assigned the case.
Singh added that Krayenhagen was contacted and detained during a traffic stop in the parking lot of a tire store in Ceres at about noon Thursday.
Krayenhagen is being held in lieu of $750,000 bail. There was also an administrative hold put on him — meaning he cannot post bail until his income is verified as legitimate by the Sheriff’s Office. Singh said once this verification happens, the hold can be dropped.
A Ceres native, Krayenhagen’s resume includes performances at the San Jose Improv, the Punch Line and the Purple Onion in San Francisco, according to previous reporting by The Bee. He’s also performed at numerous local venues throughout the Central Valley.
Krayenhagen recently had a public feud with Motecuzoma Sanchez, founder and operator of the Stockton-based opinion and news site 209 Times, following an argument during a comedy show at Che’root Cigar Lounge in Modesto.
Krayenhagen and 209 Times have posted conflicting accounts of what happened.
