Drugs, gun found in Turlock police probe into packages being mailed to state prison

Two Turlock residents were arrested after detectives found large quantities of drugs — including mushrooms, pills and cocaine — during a monthlong investigation into narcotics being funneled to an inmate at Pleasant Valley State Prison, according to the Turlock Police Department.

The investigation began in October when a Turlock detective assigned to the Stanislaus County Special Investigations Unit started looking into packages of narcotics being mailed to the Coalinga prison, police said. Leads in that case took detectives to several locations in Turlock, where they served search warrants and uncovered what officers described as a sizable stash of illegal drugs.

Detectives reported seizing more than 10 pounds of processed marijuana, over a pound of psilocybin mushrooms, thousands of prescription pills, including Xanax and Adderall, about 12 ounces of cocaine, 4 ounces of xylazine and a Glock .40-caliber handgun with ammunition.

Police arrested Jacinto Revuelta, 24, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a controlled substance for sale, conspiracy, bringing or sending narcotics into a state prison, and committing a new felony while out on release.

Ivett Gutierrez, 41, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy and bringing or sending narcotics into a state prison.

Police said the case grew out of information provided to detectives. They urge residents to report narcotics activity through the department’s anonymous tip line at 209-668-5550, ext. 6780, or by emailing TPDtipline@turlock.ca.us.
