A large drug and weapons bust in Modesto uncovered a methamphetamine lab, pounds of narcotics and an arsenal of firearms, police said Wednesday.

The Modesto Narcotics Enforcement Team, working with Stanislaus County Probation and the Drug Enforcement Administration in Stockton, served a search warrant Tuesday in the 3600 block of McReynolds Avenue as part of a drug sales investigation, according to the Modesto Police Department.

Inside the home, officers found an active meth lab in unstable condition, prompting an evacuation of the residence. The Stanislaus County Special Investigations Unit responded to help with hazardous materials.

Investigators seized 13 pounds of methamphetamine, 14 pounds of the hallucinogen DMT, three assault rifles, 11 other handguns and rifles, thousands of rounds of ammunition and about $3,800 in cash. Both a meth lab and a DMT lab were dismantled.

Kevin Wayne Holcombe, 61, was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County jail on multiple felony charges, including possession of assault weapons, being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, possession of a controlled substance while armed, manufacturing and possessing controlled substances for sale, child endangerment and operating a drug house.

Police credited the joint effort of several agencies, including the DEA, Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office, Modesto Police Animal Control, Modesto Code Enforcement and Building Inspection, the Stanislaus SIU and the Modesto Fire Department Hazmat Team.
