Embezzling conviction
A Waterford woman was convicted of embezzling from a Modesto training facility for young gymnasts, the Stanislaus County district attorney's office announced Monday.
Jessica Thompson, 31, was convicted of two counts of embezzlement Jan. 9, according to the district attorney's office. The theft occurred between December 2004 and January 2007.
Thompson was the treasurer for USA Elite Gymnastics booster club. Prosecutors allege Thompson embezzled about $100,000 from the booster club and the owner of USA Elite Gymnastics. Thompson's sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 6. Prosecutors said Thompson faces a maximum of three years in state prison.
