Jury still out in slaying
A jury will resume deliberations today in the murder trial of Jerry Benge, 49, of Turlock, who is charged in the 2005 shooting death of Steven Glenn Brown, said Carol Shipley, Stanislaus County assistant district attorney. Authorities claim Jerry Benge persuaded his nephew, Sean Benge, to kill Brown in his home outside of Ceres.
Both men were charged but tried separately. Sean Benge, 30, of Turlock was found guilty last week of first-degree murder. The jury began its deliberations in Jerry Benge's trial Friday afternoon. Jurors continued to deliberate Monday and Tuesday, Shipley said.
