Two Modesto schools locked down while officers hunt drug suspect

Lockdowns were lifted at Stockard Coffee Elementary School and Beyer High School in Modesto after police halted their search Thursday morning for a man wanted on a drug warrant.

The man, Michael Castle, 20, of Modesto, was last seen about 8:45 a.m. in the 1900 block of Mable Avenue, said Modesto Police Lt. Andy Schlenker. Castle was first spotted by a relative a few blocks east of Stockard Coffee. Castle was last seen running through yards, police said. He had not been found as of 9:45 a.m., and the search was halted a few minutes later.

Police requested the lockdown as a precaution. Stockard Coffee was locked down for about an hour. Beyer was locked down for a shorter time.
