Father and son arrested after probation search at Modesto home
When Modesto Police served an arrest warrant at the home of a robbery suspect on Wednesday, they ended up arresting the man’s father as well.
Lafayette Gunn Jr., 20, was wanted in connection with an armed robbery of a recycling business at Oakdale Road and Scenic Drive in April, said Modesto Police spokeswoman Heather Graves.
Two men, one armed with a gun, took the cash box, which contained several hundred dollars.
Detectives identified both suspects and booked them Wednesday.
Suspect Aaron Pince, 28, has been incarcerated since late April on charges associated with a different robbery case. He was re-booked on the recycling robbery charges.
Gunn Jr. was arrested at his home in the 3700 block of Hague Court. Officers searched his home because he is on probation, Graves said.
During the search they found Gunn Jr.’s father Lafayette Gunn Sr., 46, was in possession of ammunition, which is illegal due to his status as a convicted felon.
Gunn Jr. and Prince were arrested on suspicion of robbery and probation violation.
Gunn Sr. was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
