StanCATT makes arrest in Turlock trailer thefts
A suspect in a rash of trailer thefts from a business in Turlock was arrested Tuesday after he was caught on video allegedly using one of the stolen trailers in an attempted burglary at a stereo shop.
Over the past few months, nine trailers – some flatbed, others enclosed – have been stolen from Bonander Truck and Trailer in the 4500 block of North Golden State Boulevard, according to a news release from the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force.
StanCATT officers located one of the stolen trailers in the 1000 block of Ninth Street in Turlock on Tuesday after it was used in the attempted burglary at the stereo shop, officials said. The attempted burglary was caught on video and posted to social media, helping lead to the suspect’s arrest.
Evidence was located at the suspect’s home that indicated he had been in possession of more of the stolen Bonander trailers, according to the release.
William Tracy Coelho was was arrested on suspicion of multiple counts of auto theft, possession of stolen vehicles, possession of a controlled substance and attempted burglary.
Further investigation after Coelho’s arrest led StanCATT officers to the 400 block of Flower Street in Turlock where they recovered another stolen enclosed trailer belonging to Bonander Truck and Trailer.
