A 37-year-old Waterford man was arrested last week on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a juvenile, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies with Waterford Police Services began investigating Monday, June 16, after receiving a report that a minor had been sexually assaulted, the department said in a news release. The investigation led authorities to identify Zachariah Dominguez as the suspect.

Dominguez was interviewed two days later at the Sheriff’s Office and, according to the release, was cooperative and admitted to the incident involving a female minor. He was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County jail on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a child. He has since been released after posting bail.

Authorities are asking anyone with additional information to contact Detective Ruezga at 209-874-2349. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Stanislaus County Area Crime Stoppers by calling 866-602-7463.
