Update: ID, more info on fatal stabbing during fight at Keyes house party
The woman fatally stabbed during a large fight at a house party in Keyes on Friday has been identified by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office. She was 20-year-old Emily Lopez of Keyes.
Another woman also was stabbed, but her injuries were not life-threatening and she was taken to a hospital for treatment, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Saturday.
Emergency responders to the 5400 block of Jennie Avenue found several other people suffering injuries that ranged from being punched and kicked to being hit in the head with objects.
Detective Raj Singh told The Bee via text Sunday morning that he and his colleagues still are working to identify a suspect or suspects and to confirm how many people were injured during the fight. Two or three people were treated by medics at the scene, he said, but several others refused treatment.
Only one person other than the stabbing survivor was taken to a hospital.
The report of the fight at a house party was made about 10:40 p.m. While deputies were responding, updated information was received that a person was stabbed.
Deputies encountered several people on the street. They found the two women who’d been stabbed and began medical care on both until EMS personnel arrived on scene within a few minutes.
Deputies located a nearby house where the party occurred and detained several subjects inside. The subjects were interviewed and later released.
“We know that several subjects who were attending the party but were not involved in the fight recorded the incident on their cell phones,” the Sheriff’s Office news release says. “We ask anyone with information or video of the incident to contact the Sheriff’s Office.”
Witnesses are urged to call Detective M. Wyatt at 209-525-7091 or submit anonymous tips to Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers at 866-602-7463.
