Riverbank man arrested on suspicion of impersonating officer, DUI

The Modesto Bee

A Riverbank man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly impersonating a peace officer and driving under the influence, according to a Facebook post from Riverbank Police Services.

The incident began around 7:26 a.m. on June 11, when a woman reported that an unmarked dark-colored sedan with flashing red and blue lights had pulled her over near Oakdale Road and Freddie Lane in Riverbank. After she yielded to the side of the road, the vehicle sped off.

Deputies responded to the call and quickly located the vehicle in a nearby residential neighborhood. At 8:12 a.m., they made contact with the driver, identified as 43-year-old Alan Rojas, who was still inside the car, equipped with lighting equipment made to resemble that of an unmarked police vehicle.

During the investigation, deputies also noted signs of alcohol intoxication. Field testing showed Rojas’ blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.

Rojas was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of impersonating a peace officer and driving under the influence.

“We appreciate the swift actions of the individual who reported this incident, which directly contributed to the suspect’s arrest,” Riverbank Police Services stated in the post.

The department encourages community members to report suspicious activity, anonymously if needed, through Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers at www.stancrimetips.org or by calling 1-866-602-CRIME.
