Turlock man stabbed in domestic incident. Will be arrested once out of hospital

Turlock Police Department

An 81-year-old man was stabbed in the arm during a domestic violence incident Tuesday evening in Turlock and will be arrested once he is released from the hospital, police said.

Turlock police said the man, who suffered a single stab wound to his left arm, was the aggressor in the dispute. He allegedly assaulted his wife before her 59-year-old son intervened and unintentionally stabbed him with a pocketknife when the stepfather fell to the floor.

The stabbing occurred around 4:20 p.m. in the 600 block of Ashland Avenue. Turlock Fire Department personnel and American Medical Response (AMR) treated the man at the scene before taking him to a hospital.

Police are treating the case as an aggravated assault due to the use of a weapon but said the incident is rooted in domestic violence.

Officers remained with the man at the hospital Wednesday and planned to book him into jail on suspicion of domestic violence once he is medically cleared, police said.
