Man shot in chest in Modesto drive-by shooting

A man was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after being shot in front of a motel on South Ninth Street in Modesto.

The man was in front of the Arrow Inn when he was shot at by a suspect in a car at about 1:30 p.m., said Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Lt. Marc Nuno.

The man was struck in the chest but Nuno said he was walking and talking when deputies arrived.

The victim, a black man in his 20s, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Nuno said no suspects have been identified and a description of the car was not immediately available.
