Police quickly arrested four men suspected of breaking into a northwest Modesto jewelry store by ramming its door with a car.

It happened just before 6 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Sai Jewelers, a news release from the Modesto Police Department said. The store is on the west side of the complex at the southeast corner of Standiford Avenue and Sisk Road.

“A red Mitsubishi had rammed the store’s front doors, allowing multiple suspects — wearing hoodies, masks and gloves — to enter the business and steal a large quantity of jewelry before fleeing in several vehicles,” the release said.

Responding officers learned that the Mitsubishi had been reported stolen and was spotted by a license plate reader, MPD said. The four suspects were arrested at a time and place that were not disclosed. The release also did not say how much jewelry was taken.

Detectives learned that the men were suspected in similar cases in Alameda County and Beverly Hills, the release said. Details on each suspect and the charges they face in Stanislaus Superior Court:

• Nasir Blocker, 19, of Oakland is held on $2 million bail on robbery, conspiracy and stolen vehicle charges.

• Anton Crawford, 24, of Oakland is held on $1 million bail on robbery, conspiracy and stolen vehicle charges.

• Gangster Lawson, 24, of El Cerrito was booked on robbery, conspiracy and stolen vehicle charges. Bail is $1 million.

• Nehemiah Miller, 21, of Valley Springs in Calaveras County faces robbery, conspiracy and vehicle theft charges. Bail is $1 million.

“We are proud of the work done by our patrol officers and detectives whose relentless efforts and commitment to public safety led to these arrests,” the release said.

MPD said it continues to look for other people in involved in the case. People with information can contact Detective Keyon Turner at Turnerk@modestopd.com.
