Modesto man arrested in connection to Gospel Mission parking lot shooting

Breaking news

A 27-year-old Modesto man was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide in connection with a shooting in the parking lot of the Modesto Gospel Mission along Yosemite Boulevard near La Loma Avenue, according to the Modesto Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting just after 8 a.m. April 14 in the 1400 block of Yosemite. Witnesses told police that the driver of a small sedan — later identified as Jason Nolan Jr. — was chasing another vehicle through the parking lot.

Nolan allegedly fired a gun at the other driver before both fled in opposite directions on Yosemite Avenue.

Detectives with the department’s Violent Crimes Unit launched an investigation and identified Nolan as the shooting suspect.

On Thursday morning, detectives located Nolan in Modesto and took him into custody. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on a charge of attempted homicide.

Police say the investigation remains active and no additional information is being released at this time.

Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact Detective Joshua Lawrence at 209-652-0259.
