Teen with autism found running streets of Ceres, nude and with wrists bound
The discovery of an autistic 15-year-old boy running nude, with his wrists bound, on Wednesday afternoon led to the arrest of his mother, Ceres police report. She and two others face charges of child abuse and neglect.
At about 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, officers from the Ceres Police Department responded to reports of the youth running near Hatch Road and Richland Avenue. They located the teen at the Cost Less grocery store.
He had multiple visible injuries, according to a CPD news release, including signs that he may have been bound at the ankles.
Emergency medical responders treated the youth at the scene and took him to a local hospital.
During the investigation, the juvenile’s mother, 36-year-old Leandra Renteria of Ceres, arrived, looking for her son.
“Officers learned she had another autistic child, a 12-year-old female, at their residence in the 1600 block of Richland Avenue,” the release says. Officers found the 12-year-old safe in the home, which was in “poor condition.”
Renteria and two others — Gary Wilson, 58, and Lenore Wilson, 54, also from Ceres — were arrested on suspicion of child abuse and neglect.
They were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. The children were removed from the home and placed under the care of Child Protective Services.
