The California Highway Patrol arrested a Modesto woman accused of leaving the scene of a crash that injured a pedestrian.

Magali Sevilla, 24, faces a felony hit-and-run charge, the CHP said in a news release Wednesday, March 26. It said Cheryl Spangler, 48, of Modesto suffered major injuries when struck March 18 on South Seventh Street south of Blankenburg Avenue.

Sevilla was arrested Tuesday but was no longer in the Stanislaus County jail online booking log as of Wednesday. She is not yet on the calendar for Stanislaus Superior Court.

The crash was reported at about 7:20 a.m. The CHP said emergency workers found Spangler lying on the west dirt shoulder of Seventh. She went by ambulance to Doctors Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not detailed.

The CHP said officers could not find Sevilla at the scene but later learned she was driving a gray 2011 Honda SUV that fled south. They had help from the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force, though there was no indication the car was stolen.

The scene is in an industrial and residential area just west of the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The release did not disclose where Sevilla was arrested.
