Police arrest man on sexual battery charges following Modesto Junior College incident

An 18-year-old Madera man was arrested on allegations of sexual battery at the Modesto Junior College West Campus.

Modesto police responded Tuesday to the MJC campus after an adult female student reported she was grabbed by an unknown individual.

According to an MPD social media post, the student escaped unharmed and notified MJC security. Jasiah Estrada was later arrested and booked in jail on sexual battery charges and probation violations.

Police said surveillance footage from a local business helped identify the Madera man as the suspect, and an arrest warrant was issued. Estrada, who is not an MJC student, was found and arrested without incident. The campus incident remains under investigation.

Police advised community members to stay alert while walking outdoors, walk in well-lighted areas and travel with a companion when possible.
