Update: Ceres man held in fatal stabbing of his brother, Turlock police report
A Ceres man has been arrested and booked in the stabbing death of his brother on Thursday afternoon, Turlock police report.
The stabbing in the 800 block of West Hawkeye Avenue was reported to police dispatch at at 3:44 p.m., according to a news release. The calling party said the suspect remained in the area.
Officers found victim Isaac Urias, a 25-year-old Ceres resident, suffering at least one stab wound. Police and fire personnel performed lifesaving efforts, but Urias died at the scene.
Several people present with the victim were detained for questioning. Detectives determined the stabbing resulted from an altercation between Urias and his brother, 20-year-old Marcos Urias, also of Ceres.
Marcos Urias was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on suspicion of murder.
In the news release, Chief Jason Hedden said, “This is a tragic incident where an altercation between brothers turned deadly. Our hearts go out to those affected, and we are conducting a thorough investigation to determine what exactly happened.”
