Four arrested in suspected gang-related January shooting targeting man in Modesto

Modesto Police Department

Investigators with the Modesto Police Department’s Street Gang Unit have arrested four suspected members of the Norteño criminal street gang in connection with a January shooting that targeted an adult male, according to a press release.

The incident, which occurred in early January, involved multiple people firing into the victim’s vehicle. No one was injured during the attack. The Street Gang Unit immediately launched an investigation, which uncovered a series of related crimes, including a residential burglary in which several firearms were stolen by the same suspects.

The weeks-long investigation culminated Thursday, with the simultaneous execution of search and arrest warrants across Modesto and Turlock. The operation was carried out with the assistance of the MPD’s SWAT Team, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, the Ceres Police Department SWAT Team and the Stanislaus County Probation Department. Authorities arrested two men and two juvenile males without incident.

One of the suspects, Chadwick Saucedo, 19, of Modesto, was booked on charges of attempted homicide, burglary, participation in a criminal street gang, possession of narcotics for sale and firearm violations.

The other adult suspect, Elijah Gonzalez, 18, also of Modesto, faces similar charges, including attempted homicide, burglary, participation in a criminal street gang, possession of narcotics for sale and firearm violations.

The juveniles, whose identities were not released due to their age, were booked into the Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on charges of attempted homicide, firearm possession and participation in a criminal street gang, with an additional gang involvement enhancement.

During the operation, investigators also recovered weapons and gang-related paraphernalia. Officials indicated that additional arrests related to this case may follow.

“The members of the Street Gang Unit are committed to keeping our community safe by taking these violent gang members off the streets. We will not tolerate criminal gang activity in our community and will do everything in our power to arrest these individuals,” said Sgt. Mike Harman, who supervises the Street Gang Unit, in the news release.
