Sonora police looking for suspects in man’s beating
Investigators on Thursday were seeking the public’s help in finding who attacked a 57-year-old man Wednesday night.
Thomas Fulton, of Sonora, was badly beaten and suffered serious injuries, according to Sonora police. Fulton initially was treated at Sonora Regional Medical Center but later was transferred to a Modesto hospital because of the severity of his injuries.
Police said Thursday afternoon that Fulton was alert and listed in stable condition at the hospital.
The attack was reported about 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, when someone went to the Sonora Police Department to report an assault near the intersection of South Washington and Linoberg streets in Sonora. The witness told police two young men were assaulting an older man.
Officers went to the area and found Fulton injured on the sidewalk. Police said Fulton’s face and head were bleeding.
The officers searched the area but did not find Fulton’s attackers. Investigators had not determined the motive behind the attack.
