Child pornography, meth found when search warrant served at Stanislaus County man’s home
A Newman man was arrested on suspicion of child pornography and methamphetamine possession on Tuesday, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.
Jose Moreno is accused of sharing and posting about 50 sexually explicit videos of children, some as young as 1 and 2 years old.
The investigation was handled by the Sheriff’s Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Through computer forensics, Moreno’s address was allegedly connected to the uploaded content.
More investigation suggested Moreno was redistributing the child porn “as a means of re-victimizing the same sexual assault minor victims and perpetuating its accessibility online.”
Moreno was arrested without incident at his workplace in Livingston. At the same time, law enforcement searched his home in Newman. The search discovered about seven ounces of crystal meth and evidence suggesting the drugs were intended for sale, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
“We take this moment to remind our community we are committed to protecting those amongst us whom are clearly the most vulnerable,” a Sheriff’s Office press release reads.
As of Wednesday morning, detectives had not been able to “positively identify any actual victims” who live in or have visited Stanislaus County.
Moreno was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center and is being held in lieu of over $50,000 bail.
The Sheriff’s Office stated that tipsters can remain anonymous by calling Stanislaus County Area Crime Stoppers at 1-866-602-7463. Information leading to eventual prosecution could result in a cash reward.
