Mom arrested for Modesto DUI with kids in car

Modesto police on Tuesday arrested a woman suspected of a hit-and-run and drunk driving with her two young daughters.

The victim was traveling east and the suspect west on Miller Avenue at about 1:40 a.m., said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves. They’d both stopped at a red light at El Vista Avenue and when the light turned green the suspect veered into the victim’s lane, crashing head on with her car. No one was injured in the crash.

The suspect, however, continued on. The victim followed the suspect for several blocks and flagged down an officer in the area of Colfax and Roble avenues, Graves said

After speaking with the victim the officer tracked down the suspect a few blocks away at Trask Lane and Encina Avenue.

The suspect, whose 9- and 6-year-old daughters were in the car, was found to be under the the influence, Graves said.

Lisa Rogers, 45, was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, hit-and-run, driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license. Rogers has a prior DUI conviction.

The children were released to the custody of a family member, Graves said.
